German Chancellor Friedrich Merz Visits India: Strengthening India-Germany Strategic Partnership
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will be on his maiden visit to India 12-13 January, said India’s Ministry of External Affairs. The visit begins at Ahmedabad with Prime Minister Narendra Modi receiving him. Discussions will map progress made in India-Germany Strategic Partnership over 25 years completed in 2025. Focus is on cooperation in trade and investment, technology exchange, education, skilling and mobility of workers. Also, special emphasis is on defence and security issues. India and Germany will take stock of global conflicts. The forward-looking partnership also covers green and sustainable development and people-to-people relations. Merz and his team will also be hosted in Bengaluru.
