Indian Student Visas Called Highest-risk Category By Australia
Australia's student visa has reclassified student visas to India in the highest risk category and moved India from Assessment Level 2 to the 3 category. Australia will now want stricter document requirements. This is despite India being one of the largest source countries. The Australian government said that the change would assist with effective management of the emerging integrity issues and would help in facilitating genuine students seeking quality education in the country. Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan have also been reclassified to the AL3 category. Pakistan continues to remain in the high-risk tier. Indian and South Asian students will have to submit more extensive proofs of finances, English proficiency, and genuine temporary entrant intentions. Students can also expect to face more rigorous background checks, including a proper verification of bank statements and other documents. The visa processing time is likely to increase as well.
