India’s moving quickly to expand medical colleges as demand grows for medical practioners. India has approved the policy and introduced a 'Scheme for Establishment of Medical Colleges in public private partnership PPP Mode.' The central government has approved demand from the northern state of Jharkhand on a proposal for setting up four medical colleges under the public-private partnership (PPP) in the state. Jharkhand is considered still developing and poor. There is a great need for locally trained doctors that will cater to the population as part of the medical college and hospitals. It also creates thousands of ancillary and other medical employment opportunities for youth from the state. The new colleges in the state will boost the availability of specialist doctors in rural and semi-urban areas. The new medical colleges will come up in Khunti with a capacity of 50 MBBS seats, Jamtara, Dhanbad and Giridih, with 100 seats each. Jharkhand's Health and Medical Education Department Additional Chief Secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh made a presentation to India’s Department of Economic Affairs and was approved.
