India-Canada CEPA: Piyush Goyal Leads Largest-Ever Indian Business Delegation to Canada

India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal is leading the biggest ever Indian Business Delegation to Canada to boost the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) that is seen by both nations as a game-changer to revive bilateral ties that took a hit in the past eight years.

India and Canada have publicly said they will conclude CEPA by 2026 end. This was the outcome of talks between Piyush Goyal and Canada’s Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu.

Minister Goyal arrived in Ottawa, Canada, heading a delegation of more than 100 companies in what is seen as a massive revival of India-Canada economic relations. The three-day visit to Cananda, covering Ottawa and Toronto focuses on accelerating the ongoing negotiations for the India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

Goyal called on Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney who visited India for the first time in March that led to confidence to revive the stymied ties and work to conclude the CEPA.

Goyal also met Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

At the reception hosted by Sidhu for Goyal, the Indian Minister spoke about India's remarkable growth journey and also underscored the significance of the now revived bilateral relationship.
