2.7 km tunnel a major breakthrough for Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train work
India marked the first breakthrough with a 2.7 kilometer tunnebl being completed in the planned 21 kilometer tunnel for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. The 2.7-kilometre continuous tunnel section was successfully completed using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM). The 21-kilometer tunnel is being constructed between Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai and Shilphata in Thane for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. This information has been provided by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor drastically reduces travel time and enhances transport efficiency between the two financial hubs. The total cost of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor project is pegged at ₹1.08 lakh crore.
