India’s first Disneyland in Gurugram next to Delhi |
Indian tourism will get additional boost, both domestic and foreign, if plans by Disneyland go through to open their first Indian amusement park on a 500-acre site in Manesar, near Gurugram and Delhi. It will be part of the upcoming 1,000-acre Global City project planned mini-city. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced plans to develop India’s first Disneyland-style theme park in the heart of National Capital Region (NCR) in Gurugram’s Manesar. He met Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and discussed the proposed Disneyland project. Strategic road, rail and air corridors will bring Haryana state into the same league as global destinations like Paris, Tokyo and California. It will be Disney’s first amusement park in India developed through official collaboration. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that rules the federal and state governments involved in the project say the new project is different from the past. There is no forcible acquisition of thousands of acres of farmers’ land.
