Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a new mission during his Independence Day speech launching a new national security initiative called `Mission Sudarshan Chakra` to protect India`s critical establishments. Giving a clarion call that `every citizen must feel protected,` Modi heralded the ambitious mission of self-reliance, using research and development to create and deploy indigenous technology to finish the task in the next decade. in the coming ten years.

India remains concerned about its vulnerabilities evident in Modi`s speech when he mentioned the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Modi emphasised the need for proactive and integrated security planning, adding India cannot afford to be reactive, rather must anticipate and prepare.
